Background on your business, what were the primary challenges or problems you were facing before using PlainSail?
A privately owned, independent trust company providing services to both private clients as well as corporate and institutional/fund clients. The main challenge of the previous system was that it was a very old system/software which had reached the end of its useful life span, leaving us dependent on an ever increasing number of spreadsheets to manage both the client and internal data flows, leading to potential inefficiencies and data error.
What led you to consider PlainSail and what were the key factors in your decision to choose PlainSail?
We saw an early version of PlainSail and were impressed by how intuitive the system was and therefore easy to use. Using up to date technology, it was apparent how easy it was to manage the creation of reports without having to resort to buying bespoke reporting which would have to be upgraded (and paid for) every time the wider system itself went through an upgrade. It also gave early indications that it could become our “Golden Data source” and do away with many if not all of the spreadsheets we had been using to drive administrative and other activity. It does not need a team of IT specialists just to manage passwords and tasks, leaving staff free to concentrate on serving clients. After another year of development work, we were even more impressed and decided to adopt the system.

What was the implementation/migration process like?
PlainSail worked with someone at the time who had been involved with our previous system supplier and so knew the old software intimately and he was able to guide us efficiently through the process. The migration was relatively painless.
What tangible benefits have your users experienced since using PlainSail?
The system is friendlier to use and our staff have become adept in doing so, supported by a very cooperative team at PlainSail. We don’t have any specific metrics but PlainSail drives the administration effectively, makes updating data and its utilization much more efficient and touches most of what we do from an administrative, risk management and client service perspective.
What do your users most like about using PlainSail?
Easy to use, intuitive, flexible in the production of reports, little management time required in ensuring smooth operation. A helpful, friendly and supportive PlainSail team!
